With a vast knowledge of kitchen work tops, Avon Marble can produce work tops in a number of different granite worktops that are carried in stock, alternatively we can source more unusual materials to allow you create something a little different . Using either granite or engineered stone Avon Marble can supply wide range of colours to suit your kitchen. Some examples of our work can be seen in our gallery.

The main portion of granites consist of magmatic rock which is produced when the cooling of magma deep beneath the earth’s crust. Once the stone has been sourced the material requires polishing to bring out the depth of colours and smooth off the outlining surface. This gives the granite an outstanding finish and an individual look and appeal which cannot be matched and can really add that special touch to your kitchen.

You may have questions regarding the process involved in having a granite worktop installed in your kitchen. We have prepared a couple fact sheets, to answer some of those questions. Please take a look at them. If you have any question un answered do not hesitate to call us.

Templating

It is crucial that the templating is carried out accurately. Therefore we would like to stress how important it is, that all the kitchen units, end panels and any other furniture that will affect the way the granite is fitted should be fixed and in its final position prior to us templating.

All appliances should be on site, this includes: Hobs, Sinks, Taps and Waste etc - anything that will affect the worktops must be there so we can check them to avoid any problems later on in the project.

Installation Process

Once the worktops have been made to your specification, we will arrange a convenient time to install them. The installation usually takes about half a day which means you would normally be given the choice of a morning or afternoon appointment.

On the day of fitting we will require a clear room to fit the worktops. We would prefer that the room is left dust-free for a few hours after we leave as some of the sealants we use will still be wet for up to six hours after installation is complete. plumbers and electricians can then be contacted to fit taps and hobs etc after we leave.

Taking Care Of Your Worktops

On the whole, granite worktops are durable and hardwearing. They are not, however, indestructible. They can scratch, chip and stain.

It is important to treat granite with the same care and attention that you would any other worktop as unlike other surfaces they are very difficult to repair.
